Savino J. “Sal” Venezia , 83 of Tewksbury died Friday in the Blaire House of Tewksbury Tewksbury, after a long illness.
Born in Boston, Sal lived in East Boston for over 40 years and in Tewksbury for the past 8 years. He was the son of the late Vincenzo and Nicolina (Vitale) Venezia. Sal was a Foreman with Mass Port for 34 years and retired in 1982. He served in the U.S Army as a Private First Class during WW II from 1942 to 1945. Sal served in the ETO and was captured near Bastogne by the Germans on December 19, 1944 and was liberated April 17, 1945.
Mr. Venezia was a member of the VFW Boston Post, Ex POW Association, and the DAV.
Beloved husband of the late Josephine (Contrada) Venezia. Devoted father of Patricia Crehan and her husband of John of Billerica, Adeline Cardillo and her husband John of Naples, FL, Vincent Venezia of Tewksbury. Loving grandfather of Elaine Berggren, Jillian Cardillo, and the late Renee Bradley. Also survived by 4 loving great grandchildren. Brother of Larry Venezia of Medford, Billy Venezia of the North End of Boston and the late Anna Taratino, Carol Scuicco, Tony and Dukie Venezia. Companion of Rose Cardinale of Chelsea.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Tuesday at 9:15 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 10:15 AM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8.
Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
