LIGOR Peter J. of Needham and Cotuit died peacefully Monday, April 16, 2012 after experiencing months of health challenges. He was 81.
Born in Albania, Mr. Ligor lived in Needham for 42 years and most recently at the Steven Palmer Apartments. He was a graduate of Boston University class of 1958 and received his master’s degree in education from Framingham State University in 1963 and his Master’s of Science degree from Michigan State University in 1970.
Mr. Ligor was a teacher at Wachusett Regional High School and Ashland High School, and the American School in London. Prior to his retirement, he was a biology teacher at Quincy High School. A lover of the mechanics of the game of baseball, he served as pitching coach for the Boston College Men’s baseball team for many years.
He was husband of the late Jeannette (Costa) Ligor. He leaves his cherished daughter, Dr. Kimberly Crocker Crowther and her husband Dr. David Crowther of Dover and his daughter Siobhan Crowther. Beloved “Papa” to his grandsons J. Cary and Brett Crocker, both of Dover. Brother of Phyllis Flynn of Sutton and Thomas Ligor of Bourne. Uncle of JoAnn Carson, Fran Motroni, Leo Costa, Gail Costa, Dr. James Costa, Capt. David Costa Ret., Andrea Gogolos, Tracey Rosado, Patricia Allard, David Flynn, James Ligor, and Mark Ligor and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Volunteer at St. Joseph School. Patriotic member of and cook at the Needham VFW Post 2498. Many friends and fellow billiard players at the Needham Council on Aging Senior Center.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Avenue, NEEDHAM, Saturday, April 21 at 9:00 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, Needham, at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours Friday from 4:00 P.M-8:00 P.M. Interment in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit, MA Monday April 23 at 1:00 P.M.
