Obituary

John D. Ruvido, 88, of Tewksbury formerly of Medford died April 13th at Saints Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Virginia (Pecorella) Ruvido.

Born and raised in Boston’s North End, John served with the Army in Europe, during World War II. After his discharge he served with the National Guard through the Korean Era. A Sergeant with the Medford Police, John retired after 32 years of service with the Department. An active member of his community, John served twice as Post Commander of Medford’s VFW Post 1012. In his retirement, John worked as a currier for Century Bank in Medford. He was devoted to his family and worked hard to provide for those whom he loved.

In addition to his wife he leaves his children: Janice DiPietro and her husband Robert of Tewksbury, John Ruvido and his wife Heidi of Saugus, Cynthia Perrone of Lowell. He was a loving grandfather to Robert DiPietro Jr of Georgetown, Adrienne Ernest of Tolland CT, Gregory Perrone of Lowell as well as a loving great-grandfather of Skylar DiPietro, Allyse and Francesca Ernest. He was a dear brother to Joseph Ruvido of Braintree and Rosemarie Barone of East Boston and leaves many nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends may visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, Wednesday from 4 thru 8 PM and again on Thursday, April 19th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in John’s name to the New England Home for Little Wanderers, 271 Huntington Ave., 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02115.
