Nancy Elizabeth (Keim) Doherty, 84, passed away on Friday April 13th at the Timothy Daniels House in Holliston after a short period of declining health.
Born in Dorchester on September 24, 1927, the daughter of the late Henrietta (Gore) and William Keim, she was raised in Dorchester and later lived in Framingham, Plymouth and Medway. After graduating high school she went on to become part of the graduating class at Lasell College in 1947. She was married to Philip Doherty on May 27, 1947 who passed away in 1985. She was the sister of the late Carl and Donald Keim, and aunt to the late Billy Keim.
Nancy worked for many years at Lumber Mutual Insurance and also as a waitress at the famed Giovanni's Restaurant in Framingham.
Nancy, known to most as Mimi, was the constant entertainer and the center of all her circle of friends. She had a dear lifelong collection of friends also known as "the Party Pals", who would often go to her house for card games or her annual Kentucky Derby betting day!
Mimi was always a dedicated Boston Sports Fan, and her greatest joy besides her family and friends was being able to watch the Red Sox win the World Series. She also looked forward to her yearly swim in the Atlantic at her friend’s beach in Brewster.
Nancy is survived by her three children. Susan Garry and her husband Michael of Medway, Phil Doherty and his wife Susan of Ketchikan Alaska, and Robert Doherty and his wife Alison of Largo, Fl. She was also aunt to Donald Keim of Kentucky.
She was also the proud grandmother to seven grandchildren. Sean and his wife Stacy Garry, Steven and Tim Garry, Colleen Mahan and her husband Andrew, Erin Doherty and Kim Doherty and was sadly predeceased by her grandson Patrick Doherty.
The light of her life in recent years has been her four great grandchildren, Grace and Liam Garry and Ellie and Lexie Mahan who will all miss her smile, eagerness to do a craft project, share a precious frog momento and her constant supply of jelly beans.
Per Nancy's wishes, she asked for a celebration of life to be hosted by her granddaughter at a later time when her family can all be together.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Timothy Daniels House, 84 Elm St., Holliston, MA 01746 who took such amazing care of Nancy at the end of her life.
