Obituary

S. DAYTONA, FL - Ronald E. Kowalski, 71, of South Daytona, Florida, formerly of Salem, MA, passed from this life on April 12, 2012, with his wife of 28 years, Blumie, by his side.

He was born in Salem, Massachusetts, on November 29, 1940, son of the late Edmund M. and Harriet (Neary) Kowalski. Ron received degrees from Georgetown University, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and Suffolk Law School.

During the summer of 1963, he was employed by the Kennedy Administration in the Office of Emergency Planning. He was an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Boston State College for seventeen years, ran for the US Congress in the Democratic primaries in 1972 and 1974. After moving to Florida in 1981, he and his wife practiced law together in Daytona Beach. He was a member of the Massachusetts and Florida Bars, and was the author of 3 books.

Ron was a member of the Knights of Columbus both in Massachusetts and Florida and was a 4th Degree Knight. He was a member of the Polish National Alliance.

Ronald Kowalski is survived by his wife and six children, Ronald II, Edmund II, Kristin, Blumie Lee, Stephen II and Samuela, 5 granddaughters and 4 grandsons.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the St. James Church, Federal St., Salem, preceded by a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. A Memorial Mass will also be held at the Church of the Epiphany in Port Orange, Florida at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, 119 Griffin Rd., Elmhurst Township, PA, 18444.
