THOMPSON, CT – Karen L. (Latour) Ruda, 43, of Thompson, died Saturday, April 14, 2012 surrounded by her family in Tufts Medical Center, Boston, MA.
She leaves her daughter, Haleigh L. Ruda of Thompson; her parents, Roger R. and Patricia A. (Stasko) Latour of Webster, MA; a brother, Gary R. Latour of Webster, MA; a niece, Mariah Latour of Dudley; an uncle, Robert Stasko of Florida; and cousins.
She was born in Southbridge, and lived in Webster until moving to North Grosvenordale. She graduated from Bartlett High School and earned her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Quinsigamond Community College.
Karen was the dispatcher for the Webster Fire Department for many years before retiring in 2011 due to illness. She was a loving mother and devoted her life to her daughter.
The funeral, with full honors from the Webster Fire Department, will be held Wednesday, April 18, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 17, in the funeral home. The family requests and strongly suggests that flowers be omitted and that instead donations in her name be made to Webster Firefighters Social Club, 55 Thompson Road, Webster, MA 01570.
