Frank “Sandy” Geddes, 89

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Frank “Sandy” Geddes, 89, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday April 13, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth M. (Griffiths) Geddes, to whom he was wed for 49 years at the time of her death in 1996.
Born in Brockton, MA on May 6, 1922, he was a son of the late Frank S. and Albina F. (Sisson) Geddes.
Sandy grew up in Mansfield and was a 1940 graduate of Mansfield High School. He continued his education and was a graduate of Wentworth Institute in Boston.
A retired and highly talented Ford automotive mechanic, Mr. Geddes had worked for many years at the former Fred C. Browne Ford Dealership in Walpole prior to retiring. For his knowledge and skills as a Ford technician, he was the recipient of many Ford Technical Service Awards.
Sandy was an avid stock car fan and when younger loved racing stock cars. He enjoyed restoring and working with friends on Ford Antique automobiles.
Mr. Geddes was a member of the Norton Historical Society and also enjoyed attending meetings at the Mansfield Historical Society. Sandy took great pride in maintaining his property and will always be remembered for his sweet tooth for ice cream.
He loved spending weekends with his family and during the week was a familiar face at Kricket’s Korner in Norton, where he enjoyed socializing with friends over breakfast.
He is survived by his devoted children; Robert L. Geddes and his wife Teresa of Pepperell, Marion R. Wuschke and her husband Richard of Mansfield and the late Frank A. Geddes, and was the cherished grandfather of George R. Geddes.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday April 17th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
Private services and burial will be held at a later date in the Furnace Village Cemetery, Easton.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Geddes’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Norton Historical Society, P.O. Box 1711, Norton, MA 02766.
