Obituary

Eleanor (Craig) Landry, age 82, of North Eastham, formerly of Natick, died peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday evening, April 10, 2012, at her daughter’s Natick home. She was the beloved wife of the late Jerome R. Landry.

Born, raised and educated in Worcester, she was a daughter of the late Rea and Mary (Campbell) Craig. Ellie continued her education at Framingham State College, earning a Bachelor of Education Degree with the class of 1951. She taught Home Economics for two years prior to her marriage in 1952.

Eleanor and Jerry started their lives together in Northampton and settled in Natick in 1961. Ellie enjoyed creating a warm and loving home for their growing family and genuinely welcomed all who visited their home. She and Jerry retired to Eastham in 1986. Throughout her life “Ellie” enjoyed bridge, bowling, knitting and crossword puzzles. While on the Cape she was a member of Nauset Newcomers , the “Lunch Bunch Group”, Bowling League, and Eastham Bridge Group. Eleanor was the host of the South Sunken Meadow 4th of July Barbeque and Parade.

She is survived by her six children, Charlene Inferrere of Natick, Craig Landry and wife Diane of Holliston, Steven Landry and wife Mary of Bellingham, Mark Landry and wife Bonnie of Hopkinton, Doreen White and husband Paul of Natick, and Beth Ostaszewski and husband Lee of Medway; 19 grandchildren, Jason and wife Chrissie, Jonathan and wife Courtney, Shawn, Kimberly and husband Edward, Kristen and husband Gregg, Karen, Steven, Jeffrey, Brent, Brian, Shanna, Peter, Keith, Alison, Nora, Kevin, Michael, Christopher, and Leah; six great-grandchildren, Josephine, Anthony, Connor, Chay, Tyler, and Kyle;
her sister, Dorothy Rhodes of Shrewsbury; and her sister-in-law, Adele Weaver and husband Donald of Glens Falls, NY. She was also predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Ember, and sister-in-law, Charlotte Emmons.

Her funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Saturday, April 14th at 9:00a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be Friday 4 – 8p.m. Donations may be made in Ellie’s memory to Outer Cape Health Services, Development Office, P.O. Box 1413, Wellfleet, MA 02667 or the Natick Service Council, 2 Webster St., Natick, MA 01760.
