Obituary

Worcester - Mr. Philip M. Herman, 86, passed away Tuesday April 10th at his home surrounded by his family.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Madeline(Pecora) Herman, seven children, Barbara Zecco and her husband John of Worcester, Geraldine Herman of Douglas, Madeline Herman, Philip Herman and his wife Debbie, Mary June Courtois and her husband Marty, Elizabeth DePalo and her husband David, Thomas Herman and his wife Monique, all of Worcester; thirteen grandchildren, Jenna Zecco, Philip John, Derek and Michael Herman, Melissa and Megan Courtois, Kristina, Joseph Jr. and Samantha Herman, Nicholas, Matthew, Anthony Depalo, and Santo Dell ‘Aquila, a great granddaughter, Taylor Elizabeth Herman

He was pre-deceased by his son, Joseph Herman, and his brother, Harry Herman and his wife Elsie.

Phil a lifelong resident of Worcester was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. He joined the Navy and served his country during World War II, receiving the Victory Medal and the American Theatre Medal. He was honorably discharged on December 2, 1945, and began attending Holy Cross College, graduating in 1950.

He worked at Wyman- Gordon’s as a payroll supervisor for many years and later became a teacher for the Worcester Public School System retiring after twenty years. Phil was a huge Holy Cross fan as well as an avid Boston Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins fan.

Phil was most happy when spending time with his loving wife, children and grandchildren. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed planting a variety of flowers.

His funeral will be held Friday April 13th from FAZIO FUNERAL HOME, 9 Branch St. Worcester with a Funeral Mass at 10:00a.m. at Our Lady of Loreto Church in Worcester. Burial will be in St John’s Cemetery . Visiting hours will be at the Funeral Home, Thursday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
