Obituary

Mr. Joseph F. "Sonny" Leavitt, 75, grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts and later moved to Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 8th, 2012 at the Blaire House of Tewksbury after a short battle with dementia.
Born on October 4th, 1936 in Springfield, son of the late Francis and Stella (Gelineau) Leavitt. Joseph was educated in the local schools of Springfield and later served in the United States Coast Guard, he was honored and proud of his service.
For most of his life Joe was self-employed in Construction. He loved working with his back hoe, he was a handy man and loved to tinker with special projects. Joe enjoyed boating, camping, his garden, and most of all he loved his garage.
Joe raised 7 children after his wife passed away 36 years ago, and once he was able to settle down he enjoyed his children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.

He is survived by;
His seven children Richard Leavitt and his girlfriend Christine Wolf of Derry, NH
Loralee and her husband Glenn McCabe of Derry, NH
Wayne Leavitt of Lawrence, MA.
Karen and her husband William Burns of Methuen, MA
Kevin and his wife Linda Leavitt of Methuen, MA
Bonnie and her husband Richard Bergeron of Inverness, FL
Tracy and her husband Trevor Gearin of Methuen, MA
Daughter-in-law Paula Crete of Derry, NH
His fifteen grandchildren;
Richard, Shawn, Patricia, David, Danielle, Derek, Meaghan, Ashley, Michelle, Jacob, Josef, Brittany, Mark, Nicholas and Noah. His 3 Great Grandchildren; Mariah, Abby and Devin.
His sister Rita DiSanti of Feeding Hills, MA.
As well as several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 17th, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
