Obituary

Ochieng, Absaloms “Abby” age 15 of Quincy, died after a courageous battle with leukemia on April 7, 2012. Cherished son of Catherine Awuor of Quincy and Francis Ochieng of Maryland. Loving brother of Bill Clinton Ochieng and Caroline Ochieng. Brother of Willis, Charles and Marcy Ochieng of Maryland. Nephew of Monica Adhiambo Onyango and Teresia Omollo Adongo and Harun Adongo of Elgin, South Carolina and Dominic Oduor. Cousin of Heather Osunga Buyu & Hazel Osunga Buyu both of Elgin, South Carolina. Abby is also survived by his grandparents, many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends here in the USA and Kenya.
Born in Kenya on July 11, 1996, Abby moved to Quincy with his family in 2005. Abby was a well known and beloved student who had many friends. He attended Merrymount School, Central Middle School and was currently a 10th grade student at Quincy High School. Those who are blessed to have known Abby loved and appreciated him for his cheerful, genuine personality, for his committed attitude and for his brilliant smile. A true inspiration to those who knew him, Abby fought his battle with a quiet grace and steadfast determination. He was committed to becoming a doctor so he could help others in their own battle with cancer. Abby enjoyed spending time with friends, boating, and was an avid Boston sports fan.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 AM prior to the

Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 11:30 AM.

Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made payable to the Absalom Ochieng Fund through Citizen’s Bank, 1200 Hancock St., Quincy, MA 02169.
