Obituary

Panagiotis “Peter” Dovras, 65, of Worcester, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 8, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Efrosini (Pengas) Dovras whom he adored. They were married for 35 years, and she devoted much of her life to his happiness and well-being. Born in the village of Plesio, located in Epirus, Greece, he was the son of the late Michael and Nitsa (Ballos) Dovras. Besides his wife, he is survived by his three loving daughters, Zoe Paleologos, Yeoryia Giolekas, and Christina Dovras, whom he treasured deeply. His sons-in-law, Nicholas Paleologos and Angelo Giolekas, were like his own, and he treated them with much admiration and respect. He was the cherished “Papou” (grandfather) of Efrosini, Konstantine, and Panagiotis Paleologos and Eliana, Alexander, and Maks Giolekas. He was the brother of Yianni Dovras and the late Kalimorfi Karcasinas.
Peter was the owner of Leominster House of Pizza for 34 years where he dedicated a big part of his life to its success. He opened his business a few years after coming to this country as an immigrant with no formal knowledge of the language. Serving the greater Leominster community, Leominster House has become a well-known landmark in the city and is currently being managed by his youngest daughter and family.
Panagiotis will always be remembered as an outgoing, welcoming, and hard-working man. His zest for life was obvious when in his company, and his laughter was contagious. The enjoyment he received from his love of food was magnified when shared by family and friends. Those who knew him would laugh at his self-proclaimed title “master of grilling.” His favorite pastimes included chess, playing card games with his good friends, and most of all, traveling and spending time with his wife. His grandchildren always brought a smile to his face, and he loved his family more than words can describe. His memory will live forever in the hearts of his family and friends and especially his wife. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 12th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, MA with a service at 10:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street.
