Wilbur D. Luke, 72, of Lake City, Florida, formerly of Tifton died Monday, April 9, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Ulis Taylor will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Jody Lokey, Sam Lokey, Christopher Bryant, James Wayne Chance, Keith Jenkins and Cameron Hardman will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dannon Bagley, Bruce Bryant, Jr. and Adam Bryant. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 12, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be at the home of Teresa Johnson, 162 Cedar Ridge Road in Tifton.
Mr. Luke was born on March 15, 1940 in Union County, Florida and was the son of John D. Luke and Mattie Lee Stone Luke, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lenora Scarborough Luke; and one sister, Jenny Kay Luke. He was retired from St. Johns Chemical and was also a carpenter at Lake City Industries. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Luke is survived by one step-son, Tim Henry of Moultrie; one step-daughter, Teresa Johnson of Tifton; two brothers, Jimmy Luke and Eugene Luke, both of Lake City, Florida; two sisters, Gloria Bryant and Vivian Todd, both of Lake City, Florida; three grandchildren, Amanda Johnson, Misty Gibson and Christopher Bryant; two great-grandchildren, Gavin Starling and Cason Bryant; a long-time family friend, Peggy Ann Petty of Lake City, Florida; and several nieces and nephews in Florida and Georgia.
