Mary B. “Mickey” (Donovan) Kelly, age 86, a longtime Natick resident, died on Friday night, April 6, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Brighton due to complications from a stroke suffered in November, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas G. Kelly.
Born in Brighton on January 6, 1926, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine Donovan. Mickey was raised on Mission Hill and was a graduate of Girls Latin High School. She married Tom in 1947.
Mickey and her young family settled in Natick in 1959, and from that time forward she loved her home and her neighborhood. She was an Avon Lady when her kids were small then began a career working with Brigham Gill Pontiac as an office assistant. She was recruited after many years to join the staff at R. H. Long Pontiac Cadillac as an office clerk and data entry manager. She retired at age 73.
Always active, Mickey enjoyed her children’s sports, scouts and other activities including 4th of July and Memorial Beach in Natick. With her children grown she began participating in activities at the Natick Senior Center. She had a special love for dancing and participated in Natick’s Senior Tap group “The Tapettes.” She enjoyed spending time with family, especially yearly reunions on Cape Cod. She delighted in her travels and times spent with her dear companion Joseph “Joe” Blazys, Sr.. She was a loyal, loving and caring friend to all who had the pleasure to meet her.
Predeceased by Tom in 1985, she is survived by a daughter, Dr. Mary Pat Kelly of Laguna Beach, CA; three sons, Thomas J. Kelly of Natick and ME, Daniel J. Kelly and wife Mimi of Skaneateles, NY, and Gerard M. Kelly and wife Lynn of Framingham; ten grandchildren, Daniel, Ryan, Thomas, Megan, Sarah, Thompson, Devin, Taylor, Collin, and Donovan; two brothers, Jeremiah Donovan of Wilmington, NC, and John Donovan and wife Virginia of Melbourne, FL; a sister, S. Catherine Ann Donovan, CSJ, of Framingham; and her loving fiancé, Joseph Blazys, Sr. of Holliston.
Her funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Wednesday, April 11th at 9:00a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Patrick Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick at 10:00a.m. Interment Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday 4 – 7p.m.
