Obituary

Hill V. (Tex) Handley of Brookline, MA, age 87, died at home April 6 surrounded by his family. Son of the late William Handley and Minnie (Laird) Handley. Born and raised in Houston, TX where he is lovingly remembered as H.V. Mr. Handley met his beloved wife, the late Ann 'Bunny' (Shaw) Handley while serving in WWII as a range-finder aboard the USS Greensboro, a Coast Guard patrol frigate whose home port was Boston. They had 4 children and 54 wonderful years together. Devoted father of Linda Tobin and her husband, John, of West Roxbury, Barbara Fine and her husband, David, of Gloucester, William Handley and his wife, Deborah of Midlothian, VA and Amy Handley of Brookline and her Companion, William Tracy. Loving brother-in-law of Harry Shaw and his wife Linda of Memphis, TN and "Big Daddy" to 6 grandchildren, Jennifer, Holly, Joey, Jaime, Ryan, Ian and 9 great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Vernon Handley. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Robert J. Lawler and Crosby Funeral Home 1803 Centre St., West Roxbury, on Tuesday April 10th at 11:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours in the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 – 8:00pm. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
