Basil L. Veinot, a resident of Chelsea and formerly of Charlestown, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the North End Nursing Home in Boston following a lengthy illness. He was 87 years old.
Basil was born in Somerville on August 16, 1924 to the late Earl and Violet (Mader) Veinot.
Basil is the beloved husband of the late Genevieve E. (Martins) Kachoris-Veinot. He is the devoted step-father of Thomas Kachoris and his wife Elizabeth of Tewksbury, Joanne Demming and her partner Robert Soroka of Chelsea, Patricia Duscombre of Pepperell, Genevieve Bessler of Purcell, Oklahoma, John Kachoris and his wife Marjorie of Raleigh, North Carolina, Joseph Kachoris and his wife Starr of Niles, Michigan and Marianne Cotta and her husband Leo of Delray Beach, Florida. He is also survived by 20 loving grandchildren and many loving great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service for Basil on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 10 a.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, April 5, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
