Obituary

EAST BROOKFIELD; Donald C. George, 80 of South Street, died Tuesday, Apr. 3 at home.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Lorraine A. (Langevin) George, three daughters Denise A. Barrett and her husband Arthur of Brookfield, Michelle A. Gonya and her husband Joseph of Torrance, Calif., and Tracey J. Mitchell and her husband William of E.Brookfield with whom he lived, his beloved grandchildren; Robert Connor, Matthew and Eric Gonya, William and Kelsey Mitchell and Adam and Samantha Barrett, his beloved cousin Steven Budnik of Brookfield, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donald was a meat cutter for the former Gaudette’s Market for 25 years and later for Shaw’s Markets in Sturbridge, before retiring in 1996. He also was a part time wall paper hanger.

Born in Spencer, he was the son of Christy and Blanche (Mayo) George and lived in Spencer for most of his life before moving to E.Brookfield.

He was a lifetime member of the Spencer Fish & Game Club, and was an avid fisherman and card player. He loved and enjoyed being with family and friends.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Martin Devine and the Staff of Overlook Hospice for their compassionate care of Donald.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Apr. 6th. from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Liturgy of the Word at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, No.Brookfield Rd., E.Brookfield, Ma. Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Apr. 5 from 4 to 7p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions mat be made to the Spencer Fish & Game Renovation Fund, Mechanic St., Spencer, 01562.
