Obituary

TEASTER - Mary Moselle Teaster (Marshall) departed this life on March 31, 2012 and now enjoys the peace of spirit she sought her entire earthly life. She was born in Kilmichael, Mississippi of Jessie Walter Marshall and Mattie Mabel Marshall (Herring). The sixth of eight children, she is preceded in death by her soul mate of over 69 years, Marion Luther Teaster, her parents, brothers, Lee Bryant, Homer, Abb Willie, Sr., Jessie Walter Marshall, Jr., and sisters Neily Pearl Houser (Marshall) and Mell Marshall, son-in-law, John Robert Lovell, Sr. and grandson, John Robert Lovell, Jr. She is survived by her sister Mattie May Thigpen, her children Martin Glenn Teaster, Marshall Wayne Teaster and Tammi Lovell (Teaster), nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Born into hardship, the daughter of share-cropping farmers in the Mississippi Delta, her early years were marked by privation that began her lifelong search, for a peaceful spirit and respite from life's vagaries. She and her family left Mississippi for Jacksonville in 1939. Here she met a young Mississippi soldier, and began a great love story, that in truth never ended, even with his passing. They were married in April 1942 and she, as many other American women did, worked in industry to free men for the war effort and prayed for her husband's safe return.
After the war, they raised their family in Jacksonville and shared life's triumphs and tragedies. She was a constant in our lives, a good wife and mother, the consummate homemaker. In the mid 1960's they built the home they shared for 48 years, achieving a common dream of the Great Depression's children. Appropriately, she peacefully departed this life in the home she and her husband built together; passing as she slept. She is with those gone before her now and those of us who remain, look forward to being reunited in life's next realm.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Reverend Frank Camarotti officiating. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service. Interment will follow in the family burial estate at Green Pine Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Mordaunt B. Platt, Bryant Thigpen, Fred Barnes, Bill Kearney, Dan Knab and John Itak.
