Obituary

Alice A. (Parsons) Farnsworth, 83, of Boxford, beloved wife of the late Cecil H. Farnsworth, passed away on March 29, 2012.

Born in Peabody, he was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Parsons. She attended St. John’s Parochial School and graduated from Peabody H.S. Class of 1946.

Alice and Cecil built their first home in Boxford in 1953 and were married in 1954. One of her first jobs was at the N.E. Telephone Co., where she made lasting friendships. When her children were young she drove a school bus for the Boxford Elementary school dept. In 1971 she became the secretary for the Boxford Police Dept. and then attended the Police Academy and became a reserve officer retiring in 1990.

Alice was a longtime active member of St. Mary’s Parish in Georgetown and the Women’s Club in Georgetown for over 40 years. Alice enjoyed working at the town polls for many years.

A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Alice was dedicated to her family and friends. She had many interests including shopping, writing, bingo, and trips to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods. Her most favorite of these was having her family all together visiting at her home and preparing us wonderful home cooked meals. During her retirement days she enjoyed wintering at Myrtle Beach and enjoyed having early morning coffee with friends at the Boxford Community Store.

Her family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Essex Park Rehab & Nursing Ctr. along with Hospice of the N.S. for their outstanding care and attention in making their mother’s stay comfortable.

Alice is survived by her children, Mark Farnsworth, his wife Marilyn of Epping, NH, Nancy Skinner, her husband Ron of Danvers, her grandchildren, Michelle, Mark, Aaron, and Ashley Farnsworth and
Morgan and Daniel Skinner. Alice also leaves sisters, Ann King of Newport, RI, Virginia Provencher of Haverhill, and Lillian Luciani of Simi Valley, CA. She is predeceased by brothers Walter, James, John and Robert Parsons and her sisters Dorothy Bacari and Rita Blumberg.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Apr. 2, 2012 at 10AM in St. Mary Church, 94 Andover St., Georgetown. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.
