Obituary

EAST GLOUCESTER: Barbara M. (Hull) Laurie, 80, formerly of Highland Street, died Wednesday afternoon, Mach 28, 2012 in the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Gilbert R. Laurie, who died in April of 1999. They had shared nearly 43 years of marriage.
Born in Gloucester on November 14, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Richard M. and Agnes M. (Carlson) Hull. She was a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1949 and the Beverly Hospital School of Nursing.
She was employed for many years at the Addison Gilbert Hospital. She later worked for Dr. Underkofler until her retirement. She was an avid knitter and following retirement, she enjoyed her family and home.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon F. and Kenneth C. Jenkins; son, David K. Laurie, former daughter-in-law, Rosalie Ciaramitaro; four grandchildren, Kyle A. Jenkins, Nicholas R., Jonathan D. and Melissa R. Laurie; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Maureen Hull; two brothers-in-law, Edward Welch and Harry Green; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Christopher P. Jenkins and her brother, Kenneth A. Hull.
A memorial funeral service will be held on Friday, April 6th in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. The family wishes to thank the staff at Seacoast, including Kerri Arsenault, Roseangela Cabrera and Dora, for the love and care extended to Barbara. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the “Friends of Seacoast” 292 Washington St., Gloucester, 01930.
