Obituary

Cleveland Lee Howell, 89, died March 29, 2012, at the Alvin C. York Veterans Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. A longtime resident of Nashville, Mr. Howell worked at Werthan Industries then Ingram Book Company before his retirement in 1991. He is predeceased by his parents, James Monroe Howell and Nicie Sumner Howell of Hamilton, AL, a brother Wilburn (Katherine) Howell, and sister Ethyl (Paulie) Brown. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Hill Howell of Trion, GA, a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Joan Watts Howell, sisters Stella (Lamar) Beard, Verlene (Fred) Pope, Jessie (the late Orville) Bethune, Lura Bell Precise, Dorthy (Bobby) Byrd, and brothers Wallace (Recie) Howell, and Max (Patsy) Howell. Mr. Howell has 5 grandchildren: Molly Howell, Hannah Howell, Ryan Howell, Virginia (Mike) Razo, and Beth (Andy) Neal who have three children, Ailene, Eudora, and Beatrix. He was a longtime member of the Murfreesboro Road Civitan Club and Glenwood Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at Ellis Funeral Home on Nolensville Road, Saturday, March 31. Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm CDT, and the service at 1:00pm. There will be a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery at 2:00pm. A World War II veteran, there will be an Honor Guard at the graveside.
