Mr. Robert E. Tarpy, age 82, a longtime resident of Woburn formerly of Waltham passed away peacefully at his home on March 29th, following a lengthy period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth E. (Shea). Born in Newton he was the son of the late Patrick and Florence (Haddock) Tarpy.
Mr. Tarpy was raised and educated in Waltham. He was a proud United States Army Veteran honorably serving during the Korean War. He was a retired warehouse worker with the General Foods Company where he was employed for over 25 years. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting and fishing and also enjoyed gardening. Mr. Tarpy was mostly devoted his family and his greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Richard Tarpy of Woburn, Dr. Stephen Tarpy and his wife Cheryl of Milton, Dr. Robert Tarpy and his wife Michelle, and Paul Tarpy all of Woburn. He was the loving grandfather of Lauren, Lindsey, Alyssa and Stephanie Tarpy. He is also survived by his brother Frank Tarpy of Waltham and many loving nieces and nephews. In Addition to his late wife and parents Mr. Tarpy is predeceased by his sister Marge Bishop, brothers, Ed and Bill Tarpy.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Monday, April 2nd, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Sunday from 3 thru 7 p.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
