Obituary

Mr. Joseph E. Anctil, of Taunton, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 27 in Morton Hospital after being stricken at home. He was the beloved husband of Meredyth L. (O’Connor) Anctil. He was born 79 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Joseph W. and Mabel F. (Donahue) Anctil. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a Police Officer for the Town of Berkley for 15 years. He was previously employed by the E.T. Wright Company of Rockland for 33 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. Joe was a member of the American Legion, the Mass. Police Association and the Berkley Police Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton.
In addition to his wife, he leaves: 1 son: Mark E. Anctil and his wife, Deborah of Newark, Ohio; 1 brother: Armand A. Anctil and his wife, Susan of Sunrise, Fla.; 1 sister: Audrey Finger and her husband, Ronnie of Weathersford, Texas; 2 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Steven M. Anctil, and the brother of the late Lorraine Nolan.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Saturday, March 31 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M
