WALLACE, William L. “Bill”, of Winthrop, formerly of Everett, March 28, 2012. Bill is survived by his beloved of wife of 58 years, Mabel (Johnson) “Mae” Wallace. Devoted father of Elizabeth Wallace of Winthrop and Daniel Wallace of Chester Township, NJ. Bill also leaves behind his daughter-in-law Ami (Sharpe); two grandchildren Emily and William Wallace; siblings Robert, Joseph, and Carol Wallace and the late Ellen Wallace, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP on Sat, March 31, at 8:45am. A Funeral Mass will be held in St Michael’s Chapel at the Chelsea Soldiers Home 91 Crest Ave. Chelsea, at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Cemetery-Peabody. Visiting hours are Fri only 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chelsea Soldiers Home 91 Crest Ave. Chelsea, MA, 02150. Bill served with honor in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Upon returning, he received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University, and later during his career attended Brown University where he received a degree in Banking and Finance. He had a distinguished career which began in mortgage lending and culminated with becoming President and CEO of two banks. Prior to his retirement he successfully converted Glendale Co-Operative Bank in Everett into a publicly owned company. Bill enjoyed golfing and “The Captain” loved spending time on his boat. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, and brother. His integrity, wit and generous spirit will forever be missed by those who knew and loved him.
