Obituary

Joana B. Lyczewski, age 85, of Prosser, entered into rest on March 12, 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born on May 31, 1926 in Toppenish, Washington to Bill and Sofia (Carlson) Madison. In 1936, the family moved to Prosser where she was raised and educated. Joana and Mat Lyczewski were married on February 24, 1968 in Prosser, where they made their home.
In her early years, she worked at Riches Cafe and then as a cook at the A & W for ten years. She later worked for Twin City Foods as a Quality Control Inspector until she retired in 1988. She enjoyed bird watching and taking care of orphaned animals. She also enjoyed all types of sports, especially baseball. Joana and Mat were snowbirds for 22 years, and enjoyed spending winters in Arizona.
Joana is survived by her husband of 43 years, Mat Lyczewski; her son, Perry Thompson; her daughter, Kim Brouwer and husband, Glenn; her step-children, Jim Lyczewski and wife, Debbie, Tim Lyczewski and wife, Diane, Edna Kay Subbert and husband, Barry, Marianne Goble & husband Pat, Janine DeFord and husband, Henry, Frank Lyczewski and wife, Theresa, Millie Haggin and husband, Randy; her sisters, Millie Childers and Charlotte Butler, both of Prosser; her brothers, Joe Madison of Prosser and Stanley Madison of Oregon; 33 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Gary Thompson, Karl Thompson and Paul Thompson; one sister; and six brothers.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Friendship Baptist Church in Prosser. Inurnment will follow at the Prosser Cemetery.
