Thelma LaNelle Garrett, 92, of Clarksville, TN, died on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center. She was born on October 25, 1919 in Seymour, IN to the late Emil A. Kasting and Lucy McGannon Kasting. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Mason Garrett.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 3:30 PM at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Karen Barrineau officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Thelma was a member of Hilldale United Methodist Church. She played the piano and organ at New Providence United Methodist Church, St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church, and various churches in Indianapolis, IN. She was also the first woman buyer for A&P Grocery.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Kathryn (Kathy) (Charles "Skip") Armistead and Sandra Lee (Tommy) Armistead of Clarksville, TN; four grandchildren, Kristin Helms, Beth Armistead, Garrett Armistead, and Amy Stefko; and six great grandchildren.
