…avid Boston Bruins fan, enjoyed outdoor activities…

TEWKSBURY: Ian McWatt, age 56, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 16 years, died Thursday morning,April 8th, 2004 at his home in Tewksbury, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was the husband of Susan L. (Booth) McWatt with whom he would have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on June 12th.

Mr. McWatt was born on October 2, 1947 in Bonny Bridge, Scotland, the son of Barbara (Walker) McWatt of Toronto, Canada and the late James McWatt.

At the age of 9, he and his family moved to Toronto, Canada.

He was educated in Toronto and was graduated from Bathurst Heights Secondary School. He attended York University of Toronto and received his B.S. degree in Mathematics in 1969.

In 1988, his dream of becoming a citizen of the United States was made a reality and he and his family moved to Tewksbury that year.

Prior to his illness, Mr. McWatt worked as an information systems manager and director for several Boston area high tech companies. In addition, he recently obtained his Massachusetts Real Estate Sales License and had worked for a local Century 21 Real Estate office in Andover.

Mr. McWatt was an avid Boston Bruins fan. His love of the Bruins began when he as youth and continued throughout his adult life. Having been raised in Toronto, his passion for Boston Bruins hockey was not always appreciated by his peers, especially while watching his beloved Bruins play against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Win or loose his loyalty to the Bruins never waivered.

Mr. McWatt also enjoyed traveling, biking, skiing and playing ice hockey and racquetball.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by 1 daughter; Heather Pellegrino and her husband Michael of Lowell; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; Vera (Gelsthorpe) Booth and Bill Booth both of Toronto, Canada; 3 sisters-in-law; Ginny Booth and her friend Ray Barton, Jeanette Weber and her husband Trevor and Barb Moore and her husband Mark all of Toronto, Canada; 1 brother-in-law; Bill Booth and his wife Mary of Toronto, Canada; also several nieces, nephews and other extended family members in Scotland and England.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the V.N.A. of Middlesex-East, 607 North Ave., # 17, Wakefield, MA 01880 would be appreciated.
