Lawrence, Ma. – Frances M. (Cafiso) Grelle age 94, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Lawrence General hospital.
Frances was born in Lawrence June 22, 1917 the daughter of Corrado and Maria (Barcelona) Cafiso and was a graduate of Lawrence High School class of 1936. For many years she had been employed by Western Electric of North Andover as an Inspector prior to her retirement in 1981. Mrs. Grelle belonged to and had been an active member and past president of St. Rita’s Ladies sodality.
She was a Venerable of the women's Sons of Italy # 2026. Frances, before her husband Peters passing enjoyed dancing. She also loved bingo, and traveling. However, her love in life was being a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Her family was paramount.
She was the widow of Peter J Grelle to whom she had been married to for 51 years before his passing in July of 1991.
Frances is survived by children Pat Grelle and his wife Mary Dunphy of West Newbury Ma., Dorothy L and her husband Phil Gagnon of Methuen, Ma., Peter and his wife Angela Grelle of West Bloomfield, Michigan, four grandchildren Mary Ellen Grelle of Haverhill, Ma., Laura J. and her husband K. Jeffrey Pollard of Groton, Ma., Jenna Grelle and her spouse Lorna Laramee both of Sunny Isles, Florida, and Christopher P Gagnon of Salem, NH great-grandchildren; Haley, Morgan, and Kenneth Pollard of Groton Ma. one niece Ursula “Cookie” Maggio, of Methuen two nephews; Frank and his wife Elaine Grelle of Methuen and Paul Grelle and his wife Milou of Bradford, and many other nieces and nephews.
Frances was predeceased by her sister Rosalie Grelle.
A mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday morning at 11 o’clock in St. Robert Bellarmine Church of West Andover with burial to follow in Elmwood cemetery in Methuen.
Friends will be warmly received on Wednesday from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM – 9:00PM at the Kenneth H Pollard Funeral Home Inc. 233 Lawrence St. in Methuen.
