Obituary

Walter James Fields, 79, of Omega died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Phillip Roberson and Rev. Wayne Boykin will officiate with burial to follow in Omega Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 22, 2012, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., prior to the service, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Fields was born on September 3, 1932 in Colquitt County and was the son of George Fields and Doshie Lawson Fields, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Gwen Fields; two brothers; and one sister. He was retired from Jack Fletcher Limestone and a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Omega.

Mr. Fields is survived by his wife, Nellie Mae Coker Fields of Omega; one son, Ronnie Fields of Omega; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Gordon Etchison of Gulfport, Mississippi; four sisters, Lorene Dixon of Omega, Christine Haman of Norman Park, Jo Johnson of Moultrie and Marie Harper of Moultrie; four grandchildren, Beth Fields, Adam Johnson, Brian Etchison and Christopher Etchison; and five great-grandchildren, Anna Bruner, Hayden Etchison, Allison Etchison, Julianne Etchison and Haleigh Etchison.
