Obituary

Delton, D. “Jack“ Watkins. age 79, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at his home in Oxford, MS. He was born September 11, 1932 in Neshoba County, MS to the late Andy Lee and Mary Rucker Watkins. Jack was a retired captain of the Jackson Fire Department where he served for 30 years. He was an active member of Enterprise Church of Christ in Myrtle, MS and greatly enjoyed working at the church and helping others. Jack loved spending time with his family and working in the yard.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Enterprise Church of Christ in Myrtle, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 12:30 PM with Bro. Jay Tidwell officiating. Seven Oaks Funeral Home of Water Valley, MS is in charge of the arrangements.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Baldwyn Lee Funeral Home (Robinson Road location) in Jackson, MS. A graveside service will be held following the visitation at 2:00 PM in the Lakewood Cemetery in Jackson, MS with Bro. Stephen Evans officiating.

Jack is survived by his wife of twelve years, Mary King Watkins of Oxford, MS; a daughter, Terri W. Hodges (Andy) of Owensboro, KY; a son, Dave Watkins (Susan) of Collierville, TN; a step-son, Kerry King (Terry) of Dillon, CO; four grandchildren, Amanda H. Jackson (Bill) of Versailles, KY, Bradley Hodges of Murfreesboro, TN, Catherine Watkins of Chattanooga, TN, and Andy Watkins of Collierville, TN; three step-grandsons, Ricky King (Sue) of Washington, D.C., Matt King and Charlie King of Oxford, MS; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Gray Watkins; a step-son, Buddy King; and his brothers and sisters.
