Obituary

WORCESTER-James M. Tivnan, 68, of Worcester died Friday, March 16th in Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital after a long illness. He leaves two sons, James M. Tivnan, Jr. of Worcester and William V. Tivnan and his wife, Maryann of Holden; two daughters, Carlene M. Tivnan and her companion, David Dyson of Worcester and Theresa M. Tivnan Atchison and her fiancé Joseph Kelleher of Worcester; four brothers, Robert C. Tivnan and his wife, Barbara J. of Holden, Vincent J. Tivnan and his wife, Karen M. of Holliston, Michael J. Tivnan and his fiancé, Valerie Thompson of Leicester and Mark X. Tivnan and his fiancé, Tammy Bourakis of Worcester; a sister, Kathleen M. Gagnon and her husband, John T. of Spencer; the mother of his children, Patricia (Bullock) O’Malley; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William V. Tivnan and his long time companion, Catherine Quinn.
He was born in Worcester the son of Vincent J. and Olive M. (Erickson) Tivnan. James owned and operated Village Pub for many years and retired in 2004. He previously was a chef at many local restaurants and was a member of the Local 6 Bricklayers Union. Mr. Tivnan was passionate about cooking and traveling and spending time at “the camp” in Leicester. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren.
The funeral is Wednesday, March 21st with a Mass at 1:00 PM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street (Please go directly to church). Burial will be held at a later date. Calling hours are Tuesday, March 20th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Cancer Research, 330 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701
