Obituary

Mrs. Gertrude T. (Nadeau) Alger, of East Taunton, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 15 at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late William I. Alger. She was born 94 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Marie Anne (Roy) Nadeau. She was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a clerk at the former A & P Supermarket in Taunton for 20 years. She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church Womens Guild. She was a communicant of the Holy Family Church in East Taunton.
She leaves: 2 sons: Eugene Alger and his wife, Ginger of Taunton, and Richard Alger and his wife, Sandy of Sandwich; 1 sister: Helene Wojton and her husband, Henry of Titusville, Fla.; 3 grandchildren: Leslie Beckwith and her husband, Russell, Ryan Alger and his wife, Jennifer, and Aaron Alger and his wife, Tabitha; 5 great grandchildren: Abby, Ella, Gage, and Mason Alger, and Banks Beckwith. Mrs. Alger was also the sister of the late Madeleine Nadeau and Maurice “Chippy” Nadeau.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Monday, March 19 at 10:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the Holy Family Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
