Obituary

Walter J. Hainey, age 83, of Brockton, died March 15, 2012, at Life Care Center, West Bridgewater, following a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband for 59 years of Rita (O’Brien) Hainey. Walter was born and raised in Miami, FL son of the late Everett and Hilda (Clark) Hainey. Following his graduation, he entered the US Navy and served during Korea. He had been employed as a typesetter at Harvard University for many years and at Image Max in Canton until this October 2011. Walter was dedicated to his family, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a longtime member of the Holbrook Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and was an avid reader.

In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by four children, Thomas J. Hainey and his partner Sue Peterson, James Hainey and Jason Hainey all of Brockton and Rhonda Ek and her husband Jim of East Bridgewater; four grandchildren Samantha Allen, Richard Boslee and Elizabeth and Ryan J. Ek, and a sister Pauline Lesko of Miami, FL. He was the brother of the late Lester Hainey.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday 4-7pm. A funeral home service will be held Tuesday at 10:30am with burial to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:30pm.
