Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Joseph F. Judd, 84, passed away peacefully in the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Patricia L. (VanDevender) Judd, who died in February of 1990.
Born in Gloucester on June 24, 1927, he was the son of the late William A. and Margaret (Whall) Judd. He was a lifelong resident and had attended Gloucester public schools.
As a fishcutter along the Gloucester waterfront, he had worked under Joe Codinha at Mantia’s, then Hoolihan’s and ultimately retiring from Salt Water Seafoods after many years of service. A familiar face about town, he enjoyed his daily walks throughout the city stopping along the way to chat with friends new and old. Joe was a kind man who always saw the best in people.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan Loiacono and Beverly Judd; two grandsons, Joseph Loiacono and his fiancee, Karen Beyer, Vito Loiacono and his partner; four granddaughters, Grace, wife of Wayne Saunders, Rosanna Loiacono, Jessica Ireland and Amanda Ireland; six great-grandchildren, Stephen and Caleigh Saunders, Elijah and Gianna Brooks and Jade and Hailey Ireland; his sister, Anna Judd; sister-in-law, Ruth Judd and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brothers, David & William Judd.
His funeral services will be held privately in the Beechbrook Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
