Mr. Burl Eugene Hardy, Sr., 68, of Aberdeen died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in his home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 18, in Ives Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Donald Ballenger officiating. Interment will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Burl was born in Newhall, West Virginia on August 21, 1943, a son of the late Luther and Mae Stoots Hardy. He worked in maintenance with various companies in the Pinehurst area. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Daryl Hardy, and a sister June Edmisten.
He leaves behind his wife, Betty Jean Hardy; three sons, Burl Hardy, Jr. of Aberdeen, Albert Hardy of Bolivia, Eddie Hardy of the home; a brother, Donald Hardy of Brogue, PA; a sister, Shirley Waterfield of Wilmington DE; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the family in care of Betty Hardy, 212 Heflin Road, Aberdeen, NC 28315 to help offset funeral expenses.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-3:00PM at Ives Memorial Baptist Church, and other times at the home.
