Mrs. Alice M. (Ryan) Hennessey, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved wife of the late William E. Hennessey, died at the Merrimack Vally Hospice House in Haverhill on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. She was 84 years old.
Born in Somerville on October 31, 1927, Alice was the beloved daughter of the late James H. and Alice M. (Drake) Ryan. Alice was an active communicant of St. Augustine Church in Andover, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and also as a Hospitality Minister for many years. She also enjoyed bringing the eucharist to nursing home residents in Andover. Mrs. Hennessey was retired from Ames Envelope in Somerville after more that 10 years of service. She was also employed by several other manufacturing companies earlier in her career.
Alice will be very sorely missed by her devoted children; Patricia Griffin and her husband Gerard of Shelton CT, James Hennessey and his wife Rita of Warminster, PA and William Hennessey and his wife Joanne of Fremont, NH, cherished sister Dr. Patricia F. Johnson of Braintree, eight loving grandchildren; Melissa, Brendan, Colleen, Megan Griffin and Helen, Michele, Julia and Ryan Hennessey, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friend; Anita Zompa of Andover. Alice was also the sister of the late William C. Ryan and Richard Ryan.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover, Friday, March 16, 2012, at 9 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Calling hours were held on Thursday, March 15, 2012, from 4 to 8 PM in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.
