Dorothea M. “Dot” (West) Twomey, 86, a long-time resident of Winchester, passed away March 13, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late John A. Twomey. Born in Cambridge, Dot was the daughter of the late Forrest B. and Margaret A. (Cardella) West. A homemaker, Mrs. Twomey and her late husband made their home and raised their children in Winchester. Dot was a faithful parishoner at St. Mary’s Church in Winchester for many years. She was also active in the Winchester community as a member of the EnKa Society, the Jenks Senior Center, the Winchester League of Women Voters and the Women’s Republican Club of Winchester. Dot was the loving mother of Andrew B. Twomey of Potomac, MD, Matthew S. Twomey of Berlin, NH and Caroline A. Gilbert of Salisbury, CT, and the devoted grandmother of Ariel S., Christopher J. and Patrick J. Twomey, Amos W. Gilbert, Juliet R. Twomey, Caleb B. Gilbert and Sarah E. Twomey. Funeral from the Costello Funeral Home 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Sat., March 17th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church 155 Washington St., Winchester, MA 01890 at 10AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Fri. 4-8PM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. If desired donations in Dot’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church.
