Elizabeth D. Gentry, age 81 of Clarksville, TN, died on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
She was born on June 5, 1930 in Clarksville, TN to the late Robert Eldo Durrett, Sr. and Elizabeth Mills Durrett. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Gentry, Sr.; a brother, R.E. (Bobby) Durrett, Jr.; and a sister, Susan Ambuhl.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 10 a.m., at Madison Street United Methodist Church, with Rev. Cliff Wright officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 4:30-7 p.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home.
Betty was a housewife and member of Madison Street United Methodist Church. She was active in several ministries at the church. Betty was a very devoted and loving mother and wife, whose family meant everything to her. Her hospitality was beyond measure. She was known as "Nan" to all who loved her. She loved unconditionally.
She is survived by a son, Charlie (Lucy) Gentry, Jr. of Clarksville, TN; three daughters, Susan (Wendell) Cornell, Laura (Larry) Vaden of Clarksville, TN and Katherine (Terry) Young of Memphis, TN; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, John W. Johnson III, Charles C. Gentry III, Matthew T. Johnson, Matthew Brett Vaden, Samuel Isacc Gentry, Gray Joiner Young, Mary Frances Gentry, Charles Daniel Vaden and Gentry Elizabeth Young.
