Obituary

Edna R. (Johnson) Gambill, age 66 of Brockton, died peacefully, Saturday March 10, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Manuel Nunes and the late Steven M. Gambill. Born in Tela, Honduras and raised in La Ceiba, she was the daughter of the late Paulina Forbes Barnes. Edna came to the United States at the age of 16 and lived in Boston. She had been a resident of Brockton since 1980 and had been employed as a Dig Safe Coordinator at the Edison Company/National grid, retiring in 2011 after 27 years. Edna was a graduate of Newbury College and a member of the Berea Seventh Day Adventist Church in Boston and the Universal Church in Brockton. She enjoyed music, travel, exercise and entertaining at her home.

She was the mother of Shane Gambill of Brockton; sister of Irvin Forbes and Gloria Mendez of Lynn, Carolina “Chula” Tucker of Hyde Park, Nathalie Johnson, RoseMarie Garcia and Martha “Chiquita” Johnson all of Dorchester, Mary Morna-Lisa Martinez of West Roxbury, Tony Johnson of Florida and the late Zenobia Johnson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday 6-9pm. Funeral Service in the Berea Seventh Day Adventist Church, 108 Seaver Street, Dorchester, Friday at 10am. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
