Obituary

Auburn – Richard R. Lussier, 82, of Auburn, died on Sunday, March 11th in Saint Vincent Hospital while surrounded by his family.

Mr. Lussier is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eunice R. (Cote) Lussier; two sons, Michael E. Lussier and his wife Roberta of Charlton and Thomas R. Lussier and his wife Sarah of Auburn; two sisters Rita M. Pare of Brookfield and Lucille S. Hauser of Noank, CT; six grandchildren Jeffrey, Kimberly, Nicole, Christopher, Jonathan and Julia.

Dick was born in Worcester, son of the late Edward L. and Louise L. (Gadbout) Lussier and is predeceased by a son David A. Lussier of Oxford who died on January 6, 2012. He is also predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Mahoney and Doris Martone. Richard is a graduate of Holy Name High School and served in the United States Navy.

Mr. Lussier owned and operated Richard R. Lussier & Sons Building and Contracting Co. for over 40 years. He was a member of the Builders Association of Central Massachusetts for 30 years and served as Director for many years as well as being a past president of the association. During his tenure as a contractor, Dick had many accomplishments but was proud to say that he had received the “Builder of the Year Award” and the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Builders Association of Central Massachusetts and the “Legends of the Industry Award” in 2008 at the Massachusetts Statehouse by the Homebuilders Association of Massachusetts.

He was a long time member of the Harmony Club of Worcester and also belonged to Saint Joseph’s Church in Auburn.

Dick enjoyed many things in life, such as flying his airplane, playing golf and boating at his summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. However, Mr. Lussier was most happy when he was spending time with his grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 15th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street Worcester with a Mass at 10 AM in Saint Joseph’s Church 189 Oxford St, Auburn. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 14th from 5 to 8 Pm in the funeral home. Members of the Harmony Club will gather to perform a ritual at 7 PM during the calling Hours. Memorial contributions in Mr. Lussier’s memory may be made to the Harmony Club of Worcester Scholarship Fund c/o Alfred Roy & Sons 12 Hammond Street Worcester, MA 01610.
