Obituary

Harry E. Wilson, 95, of Londonderry, NH died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Elliot Hospital Manchester, NH following a brief illness. He was born on June 11, 1916 in Rochester, NY, a son of the late Harry Durfee Sr. and Selma (Siegel) Wilson. Harry proudly served his country with in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. After he retired from the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, he worked at the Chelsea Naval Shipyard as a civilian, as well as later being employed by Anheuser Busch and Market basket. Harry was a member of the Londonderry Lion’s Club, Londonderry Senior Citizens Center, and the Senior Saints. He enjoyed writing, word search puzzles, and watching professional sports including the Boston Teams and the Manchester Monarchs. He also enjoyed golf, camping and Naval reunions. Harry delighted in having his coffee at Dunkin Donuts and was an avid conversationalist. Of all the things he had in his life, the most important was always his family especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by three daughters, Jane M. Martin and her husband Dennis, of Londonderry, Cheryl A. Shannon and her husband Robert of Mount Joy, PA, and Pamela J. Griffith and her husband Terry of Wadesboro, NC, six grandchildren, Jacqueline Griffith, Krystal Katsouleris, Ryan Shannon, Tyler Shannon, Joshua Griffith and Jared Griffith, twin step-granddaughters, Kara Kelly-Martin and Rachel Kelly-Martin, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Lida A. (Plummer) Wilson in 1998, one son, James Wilson and his identical twin brother Charles P. Wilson.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday March 13, 2012 from 6- 8pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 14th at 10:00am at Calvary Bible Church, 145 Hampstead Road, Derry, NH. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery, Mammoth Road, Londonderry.
