Obituary

Mr. William “Bill” Ried Valentine, a lifelong resident of Andover and beloved husband of the late Iris (Caldwell) died at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen on Thursday afternoon, March 8, 2012. He was 82 years old.
Born in Andover, Massachusetts, on August 14, 1929, he was the beloved son of the late Charles L. and Dorothy (Sullivan) Valentine. William was a graduate of Punchard High School and received his bachelor degree from North Eastern. He worked as an Electronic Engineer for Sylvania in Needham GTE in Woburn, for many years. In his spare time, Mr. Valentine enjoyed watching sports, especially the Red Sox. He loved fishing in his younger years and enjoyed going to Foxwoods and Las Vegas. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to California and Wisconsin. Mr. Valentine also like to eat at the Hilltop. Above all, William was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He will be missed by his loving children; Patricia A. and her husband Jim L. Landry of Andover, William R. Valentine, Jr., of Haverhill and Scott H. Valentine and his companion Doris Spinale, both of Andover, sister; Kay Tousher of Salem, Wisconsin, grandchildren; Jim, Brian, Valerie, Jennifer, Kimberly and William, III, great-grandchildren; Shawn, Rachel, Madison, Taylor, Jake, Connor and Evan and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Dot Desjarden, Ed Valentine and Charles Valentine.
His funeral service was celebrated in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at 10 AM. Calling hours were held on Monday, March 12, 2012, from 4 to 8 PM. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover. Donation’s in William’s memory may be made to the Hospice of your choice.
