Obituary

WORCESTER-Teresa R. (Gilligan) Lambert, 103, a resident of the Christopher House, passed away Friday, March 9th. Her husband of 76 years, Robert J. Lambert, died in 2005. She leaves a son, Robert J. Lambert, Jr. and his wife Constance of Worcester; a daughter, Janice M. Torpey and her husband William of Austin, TX; four grandchildren, Nancy K., William H. II, David J., and Steven R. Torpey, all of Texas; a brother, Joseph F. Gilligan of Medford, NJ; four great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Martin, and two brothers, James and Leo Gilligan.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of James M. and Mary T. (Rogan) Gilligan and graduated from the former High School of Commerce. Mrs. Lambert worked at Walden Books and Denholm & McKay Department Store until it closed. Many years ago, she had been a member of the Nereid Swimming Club at the YWCA. She was an avid card player and enjoyed reading, quilting, cooking, and traveling, especially trips to Texas and Florida with her late husband. A longtime resident of the Webster Square area, Mrs. Lambert was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church.

Teresa celebrated her 100th birthday at a luncheon with her family and friends at the Goddard House, where she lived for 10 years. Her family wishes to thank those who cared for her in the Belmont Unit of the Christopher House.

The funeral is Wednesday, March 14th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A visiting hour is from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. Wednesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christopher House Activities Fund, 10 Mary Scano Drive, Worcester, MA 01605.
