FALL RIVER … Armand Pontes, 72, of Fall River died unexpectedly Friday, March 9, 2012 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Linda (Mello) Pontes.
He was born in Fall River a son of the late William and Elvira (Medeiros) Pontes and had been a lifelong resident of this city.
He was a communicant of Good Shepard Parish, South Main Street, where he received the Marion Medal, was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, the First Friday Men’s Club, and helped run the food pantry.
He was employed at Lightolier Manufacturing of Fall River for 32 years retiring in 2009.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4753, Fall River and enjoyed Bowling, watching cooking shows, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy.
Survivors include his widow, a daughter Rhonda Pontes of Fall River and Arlindo Antunes, a son Robert Pontes of Naples FL, a sister Dorothy Pavao of Fall River, a brother William Pontes of Swansea, 3 grandsons: Lyle Pontes, Christopher Pontes, and Stephen Pontes, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday at 9AM from the BOYKO MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 709 Broadway, Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at Good Shepard Parish, South Main Street, Fall River. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 – 8 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to St. Vincent’s Home, Emergency Children’s Fund, 2425 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720.
