Obituary

Charles Harvey Willis, 83, of Tifton died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Kent Johnson will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. Joshua Brown, Koby Willis, Isaac Willis, Erick Garcia-Salas and James Holcomb will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 12, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Willis was born on January 31, 1929 in Turner County and was the son of Benjamin Willis and Rosa Land Willis, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one son, Randall Willis, who died in 2010; seven brothers; and four sisters. He was a farmer and a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church in Tifton. He served in the United States Army as a military policeman during the Korean War.

Mr. Willis is survived by his wife, Mae Elizabeth Golden Willis of Tifton; two daughters, Kim Willis of Houston, Texas and Peggy Hayes of Sylvester; one daughter-in-law, Dina Willis of Tifton; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
