Elaine T. (Castellina) Kuliga, 71, of New Bedford died Thursday March 8, 2012 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Robert H. Kuliga.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antonio A. and Anna C. (Frola) Castellina, she lived in New Bedford for all of her life.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mrs. Kuliga was formerly employed as a school teacher at the E.G. Campbell Elementary School in New Bedford for 40 years until her retirement.
She was a graduate of Bridgewater State College, where she earned both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees. She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the New Bedford Educators Association. She was a member of the S.E. Mass. Bowlers Association from the 1960s until 1990. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Robert V. Kuliga and his wife Heidi of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Morgan, Taylor, and Mason Kuliga; and a great-grandson, Aiden Warwick.
She was the mother of the late Susan Elaine Kuliga.
Her graveside service will be held on Saturday March 17, 2012 at 9 AM at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Friday March 16, 2012 from 5-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
