Margaret M. “Peg” (Hallisey) Handy, age 91, of East Bridgewater, died Thursday March 8, 2012 at St. Joseph Manor following a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Chester A. Handy. Born and raised in Brockton, daughter of the late John and Nora (Toomey) Hallisey. Peg was a graduate of St. Patrick High School class of 1939 and attended nursing school. For many years she was a nurse at Green Oak Nursing Home and also waitressed for many years at the Toll House Restaurant. Peg was a former member of the Old Colony Club in East Bridgewater and enjoyed Thursday lunches at the East Bridgewater High School. She was a long time communicant of St. John’s Church in East Bridgewater.
She is survived by her children William C. Handy and his wife Linda of Florida, Leonore Papagolos of Arizona and Mary Ann Titterington and her husband Robert of Middleboro, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late William, Daniel, James and John Hallisey, Catherine Giardino, Elizabeth Brady and Marie Shields.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday 10-11am followed by a Funeral Service at 11am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
