Obituary

Salem: Florence (Kaplan) Richard, age 87 of Salem, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Emile J. Richard with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Anastasia (Kascyk) Kaplan. A graduate of Salem High Class of ’42, Florence worked as a draftsman for Ruggles & Klingman for many years and for Cannon Electric for an intermittent period of time. She retired from Ruggles & Klingman in 1986. A quiet home loving woman, she was devoted to her husband and family. Her hobbies were oil painting, gardening and knitting.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, David P. Richard of Salem, a daughter, Sandra M. Gagnon of Lexington, KY, two grandsons, Peter J. ‘PJ’ and Daniel J. Gagnon both of Lexington, KY, as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Stephen Kapaon and her twin sister Helen Tremblay.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visiting hours on Monday, March 12, 2012 from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., Salem, MA [Rt. 114 / 1-A] to be followed by her funeral service at 1:30 P.M in the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
