SPENCER: Denise M. (Carkin) Allen, 51, of Church St. died Tuesday, March 6 in the Meadows of Leicester after an illness.
Her husband Douglas R. Allen died in 1996. She leaves a son Wesley A. Allen of Spencer, a brother Joseph Carkin of Naples, FL, two sisters Carol Reilley of Salem and Lisa Fleming of Worcester and several nieces and nephews.
Denise was born in Worcester, daughter of Albert W. and Irene (Mistako) Carkin. She graduated with honors in 1981 from Fanning Trade School with a concentration in Culinary Arts. She previously was a head chef at several of the area Piccadilly Pubs. She was a member of the Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe of Martha’s Vineyard. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
