Francis J. “Vic” Vacca, 85

Francis J. “Vic” Vacca, 85, of Mansfield, formerly of Norton, and Sharon passed away peacefully, on Wednesday March 7, 2012 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the former husband of the late Lillian (Ellis) Vacca.
Born in Sharon, MA on February 1, 1927, he was a dear son of the late Francis and Annie (DeGirolamo) Vacca.
Vic grew up and was educated in Sharon. During WWII, he faithfully served his country in the United States Navy. On July 18, 1946, he was honorably discharged from the service with the rank of Seaman, Second Class.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Vacca was employed as a supervisor at Metal Bellows in Sharon for many years. He had formerly been worked at the Plymouth Rubber Co.
Vic had made his home in Mansfield for the past 19 years and had formerly lived in Norton for over 15 years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed studying the bible at the Kingdom Hall in Mansfield. His hobbies included playing golf, archery, bowling , family photography, and when younger, playing baseball.
He is survived by his devoted son; Stephen J. Vacca of North Attleboro. He was the dear brother of Josephine Ostrom of Norton and the late Nicholas Vacca and Elaine Grosso, and is also survived by his cherished grandchildren; Kaylei, Jacob and Morgan Vacca, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday March 12th from 9-11 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
A service will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Private burial will be held at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Sharon.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Mr. Vacca with a donation made in his memory to the charity of ones choice.
